What is an NTC temperature sensor?

The NTC temperature sensor uses a negative temperature coefficient thermistor under a certain measurement power, and the resistance value decreases rapidly as the temperature rises. Using this feature, the thermistor can be used to determine the corresponding temperature by measuring its resistance value, so as to achieve the purpose of detecting and controlling the temperature. Its structure is generally composed of NTC thermistor, probe (metal shell or plastic shell, etc.), electronic wire leads, and metal terminals or connectors.


The existing temperature sensor generally adopts the following structure: a glass-sealed thermistor is selected, a metal casing is used to protect the glass-sealed thermistor, and epoxy resin is filled. It has the following defects: when measuring the temperature, the heat needs to pass through the metal shell and epoxy resin in turn, and then pass through the glass shell (glass shell) in the glass-sealed thermistor before being transmitted to the thermistor chip (thermal chip) inside it. , resulting in a long temperature sensing distance and a large temperature measurement accuracy error; moreover, epoxy resin is easy to carbonize when used in a high temperature environment above 125 °C, which affects the temperature measurement effect of the temperature sensor, and even causes the temperature sensor to fail. Therefore, , Although the glass-sealed thermistor can work normally in a high temperature environment of 200 to 300 °C for a long time, due to the limitation of epoxy resin, this temperature sensor cannot work in a high temperature environment above 125 °C for a long time.
Therefore, the high-sensitivity and high-temperature resistant wire lug type NTC temperature sensor is composed of a glass-sealed thermistor, a wire lug type stainless steel shell, a silicone potting compound and a high thermal conductivity wire. In the process of temperature measurement, the heat can directly reach the glass-sealed thermistor glass bulb after passing through the stainless steel casing, and then transmit it to the thermal chip inside the glass bulb, shortening the temperature sensing distance and improving the temperature measurement accuracy. Moreover, the silicone potting compound is more resistant to high temperature than epoxy resin, has a wide operating temperature range (generally in the range of -50 to 200 °C), and does not emit heat during curing, which has minimal stress on the glass-sealed thermistor, and is not easy to cause The glass bulb is broken. In addition, silicone encapsulant has better thermal conductivity than epoxy resin, and has good flexibility, high hardness, and good repairability. It has a sensitive response, the temperature sensing speed is greatly accelerated, and the temperature measurement accuracy is high, and it can also work normally in a high temperature environment for a long time.
